The years 2023 and 2024 have brought new opportunities for growth and exciting avenues for collaboration. We are proud to be part of the Katowice–Ostrava railway line project, commissioned by CPK. As part of this project, design concepts for stations, technical buildings, and railway stops have been developed.
Today, we are pleased to share the first post in the #RAILWAY_ARCHITECTURE series.
# MIKOŁÓW_STATION

Although the Mikołów station building is modest in size, its location on a hill make it a significant urban feature in the heart of Mikołów. It is situated near a bus station and connects the city’s main pedestrian and cycling routes. The decision was made to extensively rebuild the existing structure from the 1980s while preserving key features of the original design, such as the brick façade and the cascading shape of the building.

The redesigned building features a modern, segmented form with attention to architectural details. A perforated brick “second skin” façade has been introduced, creating a dynamic interplay of light and shadow.

The preserved section of the building, which houses the ticket hall, will be expanded to include a waiting room, sanitary facilities, and stairs connecting both levels, located outside the original structure.

The extensively reconstructed southwest part of the building will serve technical functions on the ground floor, while the upper floor will be designated for commercial use. The proposed function is gastronomy, which, combined with a green terrace on the top floor, will complement the station’s passenger services in a harmonious way.
