Reconstruction of Gdańsk Główny station
The reconstruction of Gdańsk Główny station was carried out as part of the investment project titled: “Supplementary investment works at Gdańsk Główny station.”
The investor for the project was PKP Polskie Linie Kolejowe.

Reconstruction of passenger infrastructure
- Reconstruction of platforms No. 1 and 2, including renovation of platform shelters.
- Construction of new fixed stairs, escalators, and elevators leading to underpasses, as well as renovation of underpasses at km 0.000 and 0.100, extending from the boundary with the city near platform 1 to the project boundary.
- Demolition of the freight and baggage tunnel at km -0.046 of line 202, including elevator buildings and shelters.
- Installation of passenger information elements and small architectural features.
Reconstruction of the track layout and engineering structures
- Adjustment of the alignment of main tracks No. 1, 2, 3, and 4 to match the new platform edges, including phased execution of works.
- Reconstruction of load-bearing slabs for tracks 1, 2, 3, and 4 over the underpasses at km 0.000 and 0.100, as well as subgrade slabs for platforms 1 and 2.
- Renovation of the retaining wall from km 0.070 to 0.100 on line 202.
Reconstruction of technical infrastructure
- Reconstruction of the sanitary network.
- Reconstruction of the power network.
- Reconstruction of the telecommunication network.
- Reconstruction of the traction network.
Key project challenges:
- Increasing the maximum speed of passenger trains to 160 km/h, without disrupting current transport operations.
- Modernization of track infrastructure, electrification and traffic control systems in accordance with modern standards.
- Ensuring adequate capacity for freight and passenger trains, without delays.
- Maintaining schedule and minimizing impact on the environment and local communities.
Solution Step by step
Assessment of the condition of existing infrastructure
We started with a thorough analysis of the condition of the tracks and energy infrastructure.
Designing modern solutions
Based on the collected data, our team of engineers designed the track infrastructure.
Modernization of track infrastructure
Modernization works included replacing the track surface, laying new sleepers and rails, and strengthening the track subgrade.
Electrification and traffic control systems
The modernization also included a complete replacement of the traction network.
Work on accompanying infrastructure
The project also included modernization of platforms at key stations.
Testing and launching new infrastructure
After completing the modernization, we conducted a series of tests to check the security and performance of the newly installed systems.
