Railway line No. 8, section Warka - Radom (LOT C, D, E)
The subject of the contract for PKP Polskie Linie Kolejowe was the preparation of design documentation for the construction works related to the modernization (construction, reconstruction, and expansion) of railway line No. 8, from Warszawa Okęcie to Radom, on the section from Warka to Radom, from km 65+857 to km 100+850 of railway line No. 8.
The goal and outcome of the modernization are primarily to increase train speeds to 160 km/h (for passenger traffic) and 120 km/h (for freight traffic), meet the requirements specified in interoperability regulations, improve the quality of transport services, enhance safety, and increase the line’s capacity, enabling trains to stop on additional tracks without occupying main tracks.
The successful completion of the task was made possible by the vast experience and dedication of the project team, supported by advanced software.

Assessment of the condition of the existing infrastructure
We began the work with a detailed inventory of the existing condition, including an analysis of the track, associated infrastructure, and energy infrastructure.
Modernization of the track infrastructure
The modernization works on railway line No. 8 included a complete replacement of the track structure, along with subgrade reinforcement (both deep and surface) and the installation of new ties and rails.
Works on the associated infrastructure
Electrification and traffic control systems
The modernization of the railway line included a complete replacement of the overhead contact line, along with control and power supply from new or upgraded traction substations.
The challenge posed by the project:
- Increasing the maximum speed of passenger trains to 160 km/h, while minimizing disruptions to ongoing transport operations (at stages of implementation where possible),
- Modernization of the track infrastructure, electrification, and traffic control systems, in accordance with modern standards,
- Ensuring adequate partial capacity for both freight and passenger trains,
- Adhering to the schedule and minimizing the impact on the environment and local communities,
